San Miguel Pale Pilsen Iconican

2021

Was chosen alongside the legendary Komikero Larry Alcala to be on a limited edition beer can.

Originally illustrated this piece to be used for different collaterals. Was commissioned to do this as part of San Miguel Pale Pilsen’s 130 year celebration. It was an infinite pattern showing the different Filipinos across generations over 130 years since Pale Pilsen came into the world.

The management liked the design so much that they decided to use it for this Iconican campaign. They noticed how I had a tendency to illustrate crowds and paired the artwork with a piece they had commissioned Larry Alcala for many decades ago. They saw it as connecting two generations of Komikeros and artists.

Originally commissioned in 2018 before everything went horribly wrong in 2020, the original just featured filipinos from past and present, and easter eggs and references, modified to include doctors and nurses as part of the initiatives to recognize the real heroes as dictated by San Miguel management.
